Which One Is Faster? | Charging Comparison of iPhone 14 Pro Max & 15 Pro Max
Introduction
In September 2023, Apple launched the iPhone 15 series. Compared with the iPhone 14 series, it has upgrades, such as changing to a USB-C port and a slightly larger battery capacity.
ChargerLAB has done a similar iPhone 14 Pro Max MagSafe test before, so we will compare the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max this time. The comparison includes maximum charging power and full charging, to help you clearly understand these two phones.
Product Appearance
Neither phone comes with a charger but all come with cables. The difference is that the iPhone 14 Pro Max comes with a USB-C to Lightning cable, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with a USB-C to USB-C braided cable.
Both phones use a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display with a ProMotion adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. But the iPhone 15 Pro Max has narrower bezels.
The power button positions are slightly different between the two phones. iPhone 15 Pro Max changes the "Ring/Silent switch" to the "Action button," so it has more functions. Therefore, the cases are not universal.
The most significant difference is that the iPhone 15 series has a USB-C port, replacing the Lightning port. However, the port pins of the iPhone 15 series are different from those of Android phones, and the compatibility is relatively poor.
This chart includes 42 iPhone models. The battery capacity of the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max is 4323mAh and 4422mAh.
The chart above shows information on fast charging, ports, and release time of the full range of iPhones.
Maximum Charging Power Comparison
Next, let's take a look at their maximum charging power comparison.
ChargerLAB POWER-Z KM003C shows that there is no noticeable change in the maximum charging power of the two phones. Pairing the two models with the Apple 30W charger, both iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max support fast charging power of up to about 27W.
Full Charging Comparison
Last, we will conduct a full charging comparison.
After turning off the optimized battery charging, the 5W charger takes nearly 5 hours to fully charge. The 35W charger takes the shortest time to fully charge, taking 2 hours and 2 mins.
The 29W and 67W chargers take the shortest time to fully charge, about 1 hour and 45 mins.
After comparing the best-performing chargers on both phones, we know that the 35W charger is the most suitable one you can buy for both phones.
Summary of ChargerLAB
In terms of battery capacity, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 99mAh larger than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. But the iPhone 15 Pro Max takes about ten minutes less to fully charge than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. So the charging experience is better, but not much. Charging these two phones to 80% is almost the same in time, so there is not much difference in daily use, because many people charge to 80% to protect battery life.
The 35W PD charger is still the best choice for these two phones.
