ROHM Unveils Compact, High-Efficiency 650V EcoGaN Power IC Series
ROHM Semiconductor has unveiled its new 650V EcoGaN Power Stage IC series, a powerful solution aimed at optimizing power management in applications such as data servers, industrial equipment, and consumer electronics. The EcoGaN lineup, featuring models BM3G007MUV-LB, BM3G015MUV-LB, and BM3G005MUV-LB, offers compact designs and reduced energy consumption for a wide range of power systems.
The EcoGaN Power Stage IC integrates a 650V GaN HEMT (High Electron Mobility Transistor) alongside a dedicated gate driver to maximize GaN HEMT performance. It boasts a compact design, reducing volume by approximately 99% compared to traditional Si MOSFETs, while also achieving a 55% decrease in power loss. This makes the IC ideal for devices requiring high efficiency and space-saving configurations.
The IC supports a broad drive voltage range of 2.5V to 30V, ensuring compatibility with various control ICs in primary power stages and minimizing the need for design modifications. Its transmission delay of 11 to 15 nanoseconds accelerates system response, while integrated EMI control and optimized waveforms manage interference without compromising speed. Built-in protections, including power and temperature safeguards, further enhance stability and reliability under demanding operating conditions.
In terms of power efficiency, the EcoGaN IC achieves low standby current at just 150μA, ensuring efficiency even under light loads. Adjustable voltage slew rates simplify EMI design, balancing interference control with system efficiency. Additionally, requiring minimal external components, the EcoGaN series reduces development complexity, accelerating time-to-market.
Applicable across a range of AC-DC converters in consumer and industrial devices, the EcoGaN IC series meets stringent demands for compact, efficient power solutions. Ideal for data servers, AC adapters, televisions, industrial automation systems, and home appliances, ROHM’s EcoGaN Power Stage IC offers a powerful choice for next-generation power management, enabling developers to achieve enhanced performance and reliability in their designs.
