One-Chip Solution for Power Banks to Wirelessly Charge the Apple AirPods: Created in China
The second-gen Apple AirPods supports wireless charging, which realizes "true wireless" by the combination of Bluetooth and wireless charging. When our devices need charging when we are outside, wireless power banks offer convenient charging experience without the hassle of plugging wires. Recently, a fabless company from China unveils an all-in-one power management chip tailored for TWS true wireless earphones, which is capable of both wireless charging and the role of power bank controller, different from similar products that require two dedicated chips. It is a first of its kind, created in China.
1. Apple launches second-gen AirPods with wireless charging support
Apple has launched its second generation of AirPods on March 3. The new earbuds can respond to “Hey Siri” commands thanks to a new H1 chip, charge wirelessly (with an optional case), and offer more talk time than the previous generation.
Compared to the original AirPods, the second-gen AirPods look almost identical in appearance with the talk time increased by 50%. The new AirPods come with standard charging case or optional wireless charging case, both hold multiple charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.
2. One-chip solution for power banks to wirelessly charge the Apple AirPods: created in China
ChargerLAB had a chance to take a closer look at a wireless power bank made by KONFULON, and gave it our traditional teardown treatment. It uses the all-in-one wireless charging and power bank controller, the IP5566 by Injoinic Technology. It is an all-in-one power management chip tailored for TWS true wireless earphones, which enables a one-chip solution for power banks to wirelessly charge the Apple AirPods. Another brilliant creation of the Chinese semiconductor industry.
The Injoinic IP5566 is an all-in-one wireless charging and power bank controller IC, which integrates 3A charging and 3.1A discharge, along with 5W wireless charging support. All components of the wireless charging transmitting end are integrated inside one single IC, greatly reducing cost and space.

3. ChargerLAB conclusion
The high-level integration of the Injoinic IP5566 enables a one-chip solution for power banks to wirelessly charge the Apple AirPods. With all components integrated into a single chip, a traditional power bank can be turned into a wireless power bank with just a few coils and resonant capacitors added, which dramatically accelerate product development and launch.
