At the WWDC22, Apple unveiled the MacBook Air 2022 with magnetic charging technology. Besides, Apple also has released a variety of MagSafe 3 cables with magnetic charging, which are now available in four colors to match the four MacBook Air 2022 colors.

In addition to Silver, which has been available for sale for a long time, three new colors have been added to the Apple Store, all priced at the same price of $49.

The MagSafe 3 cable comes in four colors, corresponding to the Macbook Air 2022, which also comes in four colors.

MagSafe 3 cables are compatible with :

MacBook Air (M2 chip, 2022, 30W-67W)

MacBook Pro (14”, 2021, 67W-96W)

MacBook Pro (16”, 2021, 140W PD3.1)

As early as 2007, Apple used MagSafe magnetic charging technology in its laptops. Still, it receded into the background due to the wide popularity of the USB-C port until the MacBook Pro 2021 was released, when magnetic charging technology finally returned. The Macbook Pro 2021 was developed with the new USB PD3.1 standard, supporting 28V5A 140W, and is the world's first laptop with PD3.1.

The magnetic connector can be automatically aligned and attached to the charging port regardless of the front or back. Compared to wired USB-C charging, it is more casual in use, and if someone trips on the cable, it releases so your MacBook Pro stays put.

Its input side is the USB-C port, supporting PD3.1 fast charging and 28V5A 140W, and it's compatible with PD3.0 100W and other mainstream power specifications. The output is a flat magnetic connector, the third generation (2021), which is not compatible with the second generation (2012) and the first generation (2007).

It adopts a woven design for long-lasting durability.

An LED turns amber when the battery is charging and green when it's fully charged.
