Compatibility Test of Xiaomi 120W GaN Pudding Charger
Introduction
About two years ago, we created a teardown video for the Xiaomi 67W GaN pudding charger, which left a deep impression on tech enthusiasts with its unique design, compact size, and high power density. Recently, Xiaomi has released its successor—the 120W version. Let's see how its charging compatibility holds up.
Basically, it looks almost identical to the previous 67W version, maintaining the classic cylindrical design. It features a single USB-C port and supports Xiaomi’s proprietary 120W fast-charging protocol, 65W PD, and UFCS fast-charging protocols.
Charging Compatibility Test
Next, ChargerLAB will conduct the test, evaluating its compatibility with a selection of more than dozens of charging devices, including phones, tables, etc, aiming to cover the majority of users' charging scenarios.
Phones
Firstly, it can provide 8.72V 2.93A 25.55W of power to the iPhone 15 Pro Plus, according to ChargerLAB POWER-Z KM003C.
Summarizing the test results in a table, it shows that most phones trigger a 9V voltage value.
From the bar chart, we can see that most third-party phones have a charging power below 30W. However, the Black Shark series, which supports high-voltage PPS, can reach over 50W. Notably, the Black Shark 4S achieved an impressive 106.43W, offering an excellent experience.
Game Consoles
In the game consoles segment, we first look at the Lenovo Legion Go, which charges at approximately 63.23W.
Compiling the test data into a table, it’s clear that these five devices trigger a voltage value above 15V, generally achieving the maximum power that the devices can handle.
From the bar chart, the highest charging power is for the Lenovo Legion Go, around 63.23W, while the Nintendo Switch remains the lowest at just 15W.
Tablets
Next are tablets; when charging the iPad mini 6th Gen, the power reaches around 17W.
Summarizing the data in a table, all Apple tablets trigger a 15V voltage value, while other tablets trigger 9V.
From the bar chart, the highest charging power is for the 11-inch iPad Pro (4th Gen), reaching 33.07W.
Laptops
Finally, let's look at laptops. It can provide 64.34W of power to the 16-inch MacBook Pro M1 Max.
Summarizing the test results in a table, all tested laptops trigger a 20V voltage value.
From the bar chart, it's evident that all tested laptops are fully compatible, with the highest power reaching around 62W.
Summary of ChargerLAB
The Xiaomi 120W GaN pudding charger not only supports Xiaomi's proprietary 120W fast-charging protocol but also is compatible with UFCS, QC3.0, PD, DCP, and other charging protocols. While providing fast charging for Xiaomi phones, its 65W PD output capability can also power laptops and other devices, making it an excellent choice for Xiaomi users who frequently travel or are on the go.
