Compatibility Test of HMD Skyline 5G
Introduction
The HMD Skyline is equipped with a 6.55-inch p-OLED display and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. It also features a 108MP main rear camera.
In terms of battery and charging, it comes with a 4600mAh battery supporting 33W wired charging, 15W Qi2 wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging.
Charging Compatibility Test
It's worth noting that the HMD Skyline does not include a charger in the box, similar to the iPhone. So this test only evaluates its compatibility with third-party chargers and power banks.
Third-party Chargers
Using a UGREEN 65W charger, the phone achieved an input power of approximately 9.65V 3.03A 29.26W.
Switching to an Apple 20W charger, the power dropped to 8.61V 2.1A 18.07W.
When compiling the compatibility test data, the third-party chargers tested showed stable performance with the HMD Skyline. Most triggered 8V or 9V voltage levels, with only a few operating at 5V.
The charging data is presented in a bar chart, showing that most of the tested third-party chargers delivered over 22W, with a maximum of 29.26W. Overall, the charging compatibility is quite good.
Power Banks
The Anker 737 power bank provided the phone with 8.58V 2.86A 24.54W of power.
While the IDMIX 10,000mAh power bank delivered 8.91V 2.03A 18.07W.
In this test, most power banks triggered the 9V voltage level, with only one operating at 5V.
The test data, presented in a chart, shows that most power banks provided over 15W of charging power. The maximum charging power reached 24.72W, while the minimum was 10.77W. The compatibility of third-party power banks is similar to that of chargers.
Summary of ChargerLAB
Overall, the HMD Skyline features a 4600mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. In testing, it took 21 minutes to charge to 50%, 39 minutes to 80%, and approximately 1 hour and 27 minutes for a full charge.
In terms of charging compatibility, while the phone does not include a charger in the box and has a maximum charging power of 33W (compatible with QC4.0 and PD3.0 PPS), it demonstrated good compatibility with third-party chargers and power banks. Most chargers achieved over 24W, with a maximum of 29.26W, while power banks provided at least 15W, with a maximum of 24.72W.
