Introduction

In the field of smart wearable devices, the Apple Watch series has consistently led the trend with its outstanding design, powerful features, and spirit of continuous innovation. Since the launch of the first-generation Apple Watch, each update has brought users new experiences and surprises. 

The Apple Watch Series 10, released in September 2024, boasts numerous highlights. It is the thinnest Apple Watch to date, equipped with the all-new S10 SIP chip and a wide-angle OLED display. It features water depth and temperature sensing capabilities, along with safety functions such as crash detection and fall detection, among others.

Product Appearance

The packaging is Apple's usual minimalist style. The box contains the Apple Watch Series 10, a strap, a charging cable, and some documents.

Series 10 features the largest display ever in an Apple Watch, and it’s Apple’s first wide-viewing OLED display that’s brighter and easier to read than ever when viewed from an oblique angle. The resolution of the 42mm version is 374×446 pixels, and the 46mm version is 416×496 pixels, with a pixel density of 326ppi.

The Apple Watch Series 10 is available in two materials: aluminum and titanium, depending on the model. The aluminum case comes in three finishes: Midnight, Starlight, and Silver, with its weight reduced by 10% compared to the Series 9. The titanium case is offered in Natural, Gold, and Space Black finishes, and it is nearly 20% lighter than the stainless steel version of the Series 9.

The Series 10 is the thinnest Apple Watch ever, has a water resistance rating of 50 meters, and is also rated IP6X dust resistant.

The Apple Watch Series 10 features a physical action button on one side and a three-microphone array designed to reduce noise and enhance clarity. It also includes a larger Digital Crown with more pronounced grooves for improved tactile feedback, along with a side button for accessing safety features. Additionally, it incorporates a depth gauge capable of measuring both water depth and temperature, housed in a small opening to the left of the Digital Crown, as shown in the image above.

The back of the Apple Watch Series 10 is equipped with an electrical heart sensor, a blood oxygen sensor, and an optical heart sensor, providing women with deeper insights into their health. Additionally, it includes features such as Crash Detection, Fall Detection, and more.

The outer ring of the sensor is laser engraved with basic information, and the top is the strap removal button.

The length is about 36.22 mm (1.43 inches).

The width is about 42.11 mm (1.66 inches).

The thickness is about 11.80 mm (0.46 inches). 

The included strap is made from 100% recycled nylon, 100% recycled polyester, and 100% recycled spandex.

Worn on the wrist of an adult male as above, it feels very light and breathable.

The weight is about 29.7 g (1.048 oz).

The weight with the strap is about 37.4 g (1.32 oz).

The input end of the cable is a USB-C port. The middle of the magnetic charging area is concave, which better fits the back of the watch.

The cable adopts a woven design.

The spec info is printed on the side of the metal shell: Model: A2879, Input: 5V 1A.

The connector adopts a special pin design.

The length of the cable is about 1 m (3' 3.37'').

Use the Apple 30W charger and the included cable to charge the Apple Watch Series 10, ChargerLAB POWER-Z KM003C shows the power at the input end is about 5.07V 065A 3.28W, which is slightly lower than the 4-5W charging power of previous generations.

Full Charging Test

We use the Apple 20W charger and the original cable to fully charge the Apple Watch Series 10. And put them into a 25°C (77℉) thermotank throughout the test.

The voltage is always around 5V. The charging curve can be divided into three parts. In the first part, the peak power stayed at 2.5W for the first 3 minutes. After that, the power kept fluctuating up and down for a period of time, until one hour and 7 minutes, the power dropped to 1.6W and began to decrease steadily. It takes one hour and 36 minutes to be fully charged.

It takes 38 minutes to charge to 50%, 1 hour and 2 minutes to charge to 80%, and 1 hour and 36 minutes to charge to 100%.

The Series 8 takes 1 hour and 6 minutes to fully charge, while the Series 10 takes 1 hour and 36 minutes, which is slower.

Overall, the upgrades to the Apple Watch Series 10 are unmistakable. With the thinnest case yet, a larger and improved OLED display, the all-new S10 SiP chip, and an expanded 64GB of storage compared to the previous generation, it offers significant advancements. It includes safety features such as Crash Detection and Fall Detection while retaining essential health monitoring capabilities like blood oxygen measurement, heart rate tracking, and ECG. Despite being slightly more expensive, the Apple Watch Series 10 remains an excellent choice for fitness enthusiasts.
