Introduction
With the release of the Xiaomi Mi 15 series, Xiaomi also launched a 30W magnetic wireless charger that can meet the 30W wireless charging needs of the new series. In addition, it supports the Qi protocol and can provide 7.5W wireless charging power for the iPhone. It is thin and light with strong adsorption force, and the experience of charging and using simultaneously is good. Next, let's take it apart to see its internal components and structure.
Product Appearance
The front of the box is printed with the Xiaomi logo, product name, and appearance.
The specs info is posted on the back. We'll talk about it later.
The box contains the charger and some documents.
It has an integrated USB-C cable and is fixed with a paper ring. The wireless charger is made of aluminum alloy and glass, continuing the simple design style of Xiaomi.
The USB-C port connector is frosted.
It adopts a non-full pin design.
The specs info is printed on the cable. Model is MDY-17-EY. It can support an input of 5-20V3.25A. The maximum output is 30W.
The connection between the cable and the wireless charger is thickened to resist bending.
The wireless charging panel is made of glass.
The center of the back is engraved with Xiaomi.
The edges of the metal shell are rounded.
The length of the cable is about 1 m (3' 3.37'').
The diameter is about 55.85 mm (2.2 inches).
The thickness is about 6.08 mm (0.24 inches).
That's how big it is in the hand.
The weight is about 54 g (1.9 oz).
Teardown
Remove the glass panel.
The magnets are fixed with glue.
In the middle is the wireless charging coil.
Below the wireless charging coil is the PCBA module, and a black plastic shell separates the PCBA module and the aluminum alloy shell.
The USB-C cable core is connected to the PCBA module by welding and protected by glue.
The solder joints between the wireless charging coil and the PCBA module are full.
The PCBA module is equipped with a thermistor for temperature monitoring.
Remove the PCBA module and wireless charging coil.
The back of the PCBA module has components such as the wireless charging master control chip, thermistor, filter capacitor, NPO resonant capacitor, etc.
There are six filter capacitors in the center of the front.
The Schottky diode is marked with S56F.
These are the six filter capacitors on the front.
The wireless charging master control chip is from NuVolta. This is a highly integrated wireless charging transmitter chip with an internal MCU and wireless charging power stage. It integrates the traditional wireless charging master control chip and power full-bridge chip into one package, greatly saving space. It supports I2C and UART interfaces and has a built-in ADC for collecting charging parameter information. It supports QC and PD fast charging functions, has low quiescent current and a single chip can realize a complete wireless charging design with an output power of up to 30W. Model is NV1708A.
This is another set of filter capacitors.
This is the thermistor.
There are white NPO resonant capacitors.
The wireless charging coil is wound with Litz wire.
Well, those are all components of the Xiaomi 30W Magnetic Wireless Charger.
Summary of ChargerLAB
The Xiaomi 30W Magnetic Wireless Charger comes with a USB-C cable and an aluminum alloy casing. It uses a magnetic design, and the experience of charging and using simultaneously is good.
After taking it apart, we found it adopts the NuVolta NV1708A wireless charging solution, which is a highly integrated wireless charging transmitter chip with an internal MCU and wireless charging power stage. It combines the traditional wireless charging master control chip and power full-bridge chip into one package, greatly saving space. The wireless charging coil, magnets, etc. are glued and reinforced, and they are also insulated.
