Many people love Huawei phones, but some do not. Some find the EMUI software tacky, while others think the phone’s cameras tend to over-process images. If there’s one single aspect of Huawei devices that everyone can agree on, however, it’s battery life. Huawei has always been excellent — perhaps industry best — at making devices with strong battery life that charges fast too.
Huawei’s SuperCharge technology, which was introduced with the Mate 9 series in late 2016, can pump juice into a new Huawei handset at something close to 2 percent per minute, and last week Huawei introduced a new SuperCharge wall plug with three USB outlets.
All three ports are capable of 5A fast charging, with the main port pumping out power at a whopping 32.5W rate, which is needed to fast charge Huawei’s MateBook X Pro laptop line.
In true Huawei fashion, the plug is very compact despite its massive power. It’s no larger than an older pre-2014 MacBook outlet.
It’s worth noting that even though Huawei’s SuperCharge technology only works with Huawei and Honor devices, this outlet can also pump out enough juice to support Qi Quick Charging, which means you’ll be able to top up an iPhone or Samsung or Pixel device quickly too.
We tested the charging brick and it indeed delivered the speeds as promised. The charger was able to charge an Honor V8 along with a second phone and a portable battery.
