Samsung might be the pioneers for a truly wireless charging experience. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) recently published news that Samsung, the Korean tech mogul, filed an OTA wireless charging patent in Korea as early as 2016.
The patent depicts a room that is equipped with reflectors. The reflectors would then transmit charging signals, in the form of waves, to the devices when the user is in the proximity of the reflectors. It’s even speculated that the energy waves can get around obstacles, so you might not even have to take your phone out of your pocket or bag to charge it.
Though Samsung has already filed the patent in 2016, there’s still haven’t been any further news about progress of such technology. Samsung still has not yet announced any new details about the development or release date, but the idea of finally getting closer to a truly wireless charger is electrifying.
